Crazy Good Karma Week!

Just a quick-ish update on some of the wonderful, crazy changes that have been happening in my world as of late ... it has been an exceptionally amazing last couple of weeks for me - karmic-ally speaking - and I am feeling truly thankful for my good fortune, and for the love and support of my amazing family and friends!

You all mean the world to me!

Thank you <3

This is our lovely and dear old man Badger, who now has a sweet, rambunctious new friend to hang out with! And we are lucky enough to add a lovable, drooly and big-hearted addition to our family.

Meet Luka!

We love him dearly and are so happy he could come and live with us!

I have been working on some needle felted owls for my friend Gudrun - she is so lovely and has never ending talents! - I hope she likes them :)

I was lucky enough to be have an art yarn of mine selected for the month long August Show and Working Studio at the Art Gallery here in town.

I am really chuffed about it!! :)

Introducing my "Where the Wild Things Are" art yarn. This one has some sentimental meaning and so I am really thrilled that it was chosen for the show.

I'm also collaborating on a project with my dear friend and uber-talented fibre sister Melissa Nasby of SoulFibre Studios! We are brainstorming and creating up a storm!! How cool is that?!

This eyeball is part of it ... it's won't be as creepy as it looks right now I assure you ... ;) More details to follow later on this one ...

And finally!

Some fibre equipment that I have been searching for (and yearning for) to assist me in my fibre prep has finally come to fruition for me!

I got my first pair of hand carders! Second hand and vintage too! They have probably already prepped baskets full of lovely fibre before they found their way to me!

And they were still unfinished wood ...

And you know me and unfinished surfaces ... well, it's like a blank canvas screaming out for some colour!!

And so I may have made them blue ... with tattoo's.

I absolutely love them!

Thank you Good Karma! I promise, as always, to pay it forward and help keep the good Karma rolling!

Wishing you all Good Karma and Happy Days!

Jungle Bug Love!

I understand that I might be somewhat biased in my assessment of the following sculpture ...

but I'm sure you will agree ...

BEST JUNGLE BUG

EVER!!!

For me, nothing beats the art of a child.

Absolutely nothing.

Hands down, best artists in the world!

Daily Dose of Fibre! Ahhhh ...

It has been so long since I have played with fibre on my break at work ... life gets crazy busy, other errands and things to accomplish in the few moments I get for my coffee break and the precious half hour for my lunch.

I'm running around like the Mad Hatter, not taking time to slow down for a cup of tea!

And that's not good ...

I forgot, until today, how very important it is to use my breaks at work for just that ... breaks.

Breaks from the stress, breaks from the noise, the craziness and our incessant need to fill every single waking second of our day with crossing things off of the never-ending to-do list!!

Argh!

But not today ...

Today I slowed down and did some playing, and some learning, and shared some laughs with (the other) Nikki while we experimented with fibre on our breaks.

... and it was AMAZING!

Definitely my technique leaves a LOT to be desired as I made my first rolags on the blending board and learned to comb and hackle and diz with wild fibre abandon!

But with every passing moment I could feel the difference my choice had made: in the lightness of my mood, the quickness of my smile and the happiness of my hands as they created with the lovely fibre before me.

So from now on I think I need to make my breaks my breaks, learn to schedule some unscheduled time, and add "playtime with fibre" on to my to-do list!

Happy Break-time Everyone!

Warm Woolies for Winter !?

Warm woolies for Winter ?!? What ??

I know, just when Summer has finally arrived, the days are long and hot, and everyone is thinking of beaches, and sand and the joys of flip-flops!

... and I'm talking about the warm coziness of Winter woolies ?!?

Is this girl crazy? Has she completely lost her marbles?

Well ... maybe.

If I'm not careful there may be a public tar and feathering! But bear with me ... and feel free to put down the pitchforks ...

I am weaving my first wool blankie!

And really in order to be ready for the chilly North winds of winter - you kind of have to weave your wooly blankets in the Summer. They take a surprisingly long time and a LOT of work - more than even I imagined!

But I know I will be happy with all the effort I put in when I can cozy up with my wee ones in front of a nice wood stove on a chilly Winter's night :)

Okay, okay ... I'm done with the freezy talk!

Bring on the Mojitos!!

Happy Weaving everyone!
